Our Work Matters Here
A few years ago I stepped away from a corporate career that I loved and believed in.
I was the Founding Member of a global platform, and the director of an internal & external business consulting unit called, When Women Thrive.
“When women thrive, they are healthy & productive, financially secure and advancing in their careers without barriers to progress and potential.”
I worked for a multinational human capital consulting organization. I had an office in downtown Boston, did day trips down and back to Manhattan once a week, hosted or attended meetings & conferences 2-3 time a month in cities across North America & Europe, and in between was in front of my laptop or on conference calls with colleagues around the world beginning at 7am.
I was part of something I believed in deeply, had pretty good “flexibility”, was paid well … but … it had zero intersection locally or with my actual life. I was not “thriving” and I had begun to feel, in every part of my being, that the work was actually creating barriers to progress for women in the workforce vs breaking them down.
I stepped away, with a hope that I might reimagine that work and create something at the local level. I believed we could create a space where work inter sects with life.
Work and why we do what we do means a lot here. We have built a thriving community of entrepreneurs, and I’m excited to reconnect the corporate dots, to create a space for working professionals locally.
If you are in the office, on the road, or in front of a computer all day, and wondering where and how to connect with others who, like you, are doing it all, but feeling the disconnect between work & life, we see you. This week we are hosting our first “9-5” Working Professional Meet-Up for those in corporate, healthcare, non-profit, academia…or anything in between. I’m excited to see what we explore, and I believe that together we can create something pretty special for this local community. I think it’s needed. Let’s make it happen.
If you have ideas in this space, we’d love to hear from you!
