Where It All Began

Today I scrolled back through thousands of photos to see if I could find the photo of when I first began to envision this thing we now call The Bird & Bear Collective.

This is it.

It was Easter 2013, the morning after we had moved into our new home, and the day before I had to go back to work after the birth of our 3rd. I was 4 months postpartum and navigating what had become the wildest phase of my life ~ the birth of our 3rd, a car accident, Sandy Hook, the holidays and the birthday of my second, an emergency appendectomy, packing the house, moving to a new house, winter with littles, germs, undiagnosed postpartum, a promotion at work and so many new beginnings in our new home that were exciting and overwhelming all in one.

When I say I created this brand to hold space for the intersections of life, work, family, friendship, health, faith, community and the wildest parts of becoming, know that it was moments like this that made me begin to to crave a space where all of those pieces could to fit together.

Tomorrow night we are hosting our 1st Mama Meet-Up of 2025. I may not be that young dark-haired mama with 3 littles anymore, but I sure do remember those days like they were yesterday. I may not have the corporate office job anymore, but I sure do know how work stretches us. I may not have had a big sister who held my hand along the way, but I sure do love being your big sister holding space for you as you brave the wilderness of motherhood.

I am a Mama Bird & Bear who sees you and invites you to an evening behind the new barn doors at The Bird & Bear Collective ~ an invitation for the many parts of you to come together as you nest, rest, explore & soar.

You are invited…

whether you know us yet or not

whether you are expecting, a new mama or have school aged kids

whether you just moved to the area or you grew up here

whether you work or stay home

whether you showered or not…

The event has a small ticket fee ($20), but is also one of the many events included in the Nest & Rest ($13/month) and Explore & Soar ($33/month) memberships that include ongoing invitations to this space created to hold space for the powerful intersections in this beautiful wilderness.
