Building an Editing Toolkit for Life and Work

Editing isn't just about fixing mistakes. It's a skill that we can practice and use to sharpen how we think, communicate, and make decisions. This workshop introduces practical editing techniques you can apply to your own writing, whether it's an email, a personal essay, or a newsletter. We'll cover how to spot what's not working, cut with confidence, and revise without losing your voice. Walk away with a toolkit of concrete strategies for editing your own work — and thinking more clearly about what to prioritize.

Annie Brubaker holds a PhD in Literature and has taught writing at Wellesley College for over 16 years. Through her writing consultancy, she works with writers of all kinds to build confident, sustainable, and joyful writing practices.

Annie supports writers who want a consistent editorial partner for major projects—from college essays to articles, book chapters, grant applications, and strategic communications. She offers developmental feedback, line editing, and project guidance grounded in two decades of teaching college writing.
