Wilder Immersion in Iceland

This Bird & Bear is back from 5 days in Iceland ~ a truly immersive wilderness experience ~ personally & professionally!

The goal was to meet-up with our daughter who flew over from her semester abroad in Ireland. The hope was to surround ourselves in the real life wilderness that I talk about so often here. The reality was that it took our breath away in every possible way.

We took in this land of fire and ice across city life and camper van life, through the mountains and valleys formed by volcanoes and glaciers, to the sun, rain, snow and wind that changes almost hourly, to the rural farms and chapels, amongst the most beautiful oceans, rivers, lakes, lagoons, waterfalls and northern lights, and fueled by the freshest and the most delicious food too.

It was also amazing to be there during the Artemis ll expedition and landing. To see and hear the Astronauts’ views of this planet and to feel their awe and wonder of earth and humanity on this side of the universe was very emotional and so incredibly special.

All this to say, it was immersive, wild, memorable and life changing for this Bird & Bear. I’m excited to carry a piece of Iceland’s great big wilderness back to this local wilderness and our home sweet home on this planet.
