Opening Day & Every Day Words

My friend Sue of @gracefullyrestored gifted me and the Bird & Bear this print 4 years ago today.

These words clipped to a piece of historic barn wood along with the original art of @pshawillustration of my backyard barn swing are what I see every day I open the Bird & Bear ~ and what you see when you visit this space.

Today marks 4 years from when we opened doors to this downtown spot. It’s not an anniversary I often recognize, as it was simply another giant leap in a journey that began the year before in the backyard.

Honestly I also don’t love the connection to the date since it’s associated with one of the most commercialized holidays there ever was ~ Valentine’s Day. Yes we 100% love LOVE, but the date of our opening has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. It just so happened to be when we 1st opened.

BUT when you realize it’a been 4 years here, it kind of takes your breath away.

Today this girl will read these words a little slower as I lift a glass to the 4 years that was, and the next 4 of even more.
