Moving In
This is a photo taken just a little over 4 years ago, January 2021, not long after I picked up the keys to this downtown space that has become the Bird & Bear Collective.
It was the middle of winter + a pandemic. Businesses were closing doors, and we we had just signed a lease to open ours. The walls were white and the floors were shiny. The dollars were little, but the dreams were big.
Could we bring the backyard barn to this downtown historic bank?
It was a wild hypothesis, fueled by even wilder hope, that we could create a space to, as we say, nest, rest, explore + soar ~ and that one day, with prayer, patience and staying true to our purpose that this space would one day become The Bird & Bear Collective that it is today.
It has not been easy. The goal for the last few years was to simply keep the lights on, as we pushed, pursued and proved the hypothesis. We’ve done that, and now the goal is to be one of the brightest lights around!
Over the next few days I am going to take some time to reflect on where we’ve been, as I reintroduce you to the Bird & Bear and share more about what it’s doing in this local wilderness, and how you can be a part of it.
Because we aren’t that blank slate anymore Birds & Bears, are we? It’s time to shine so bright, together, as we brave this wilderness!
