Rosie

Hey there,

it's me Rosie the Riveter ~ aka Erin the Founder of the Bird & Bear Collective. Forgive the cheesy photo and the delay since my last email, but when it's  the beginning of a new month +++ it's women's history month +++ the anniversary of when we officially opened doors to the downtown Bird & Bear +++ AND you realize you are dressed a little bit like the hero you have channeled for 20 something years, you ask your husband to take your picture and make you an espresso so you can sit down and write you this letter.

20 years ago I hung a poster of Rosie the Riveter in my cube at the Investment Consulting firm I worked for. We were in the middle of a merger & acquisition, and I had just relocated from a high-rise in downtown Boston to a cubical in one-level office park in the suburbs of Boston. The building was pretty deserted and it was my job to build experience and create culture in an organization that was wrecked by scandal and in the middle of a major transformation.

More on that someday, but I'll never forget the day I hung a "We Can Do It" Rosie the Riveter poster in my cube. My colleagues (& now dear friends) rolled their eyes, and teased me for years ~ but it's that ferocious heart and motivation that has been at the core of my career ~ corporate and now entrepreneurial.

I've certainly said "We Can Do It" a million times, and sang Pink's version of "Million Dreams" in the last 4 years, in this drive to keep the Bird & Bear alive in the midst of the wildest of times. It's not a Boston high-rise or a suburban office park, but it's been our job to build experience and create culture in a collective wrecked by pandemic and in the middle of a major transformation.

March at the Bird & Bear will inspire many nostalgic alignment moments in this work we are doing. Our calendar is filled with an amazing line-up of happenings + invitations. Our downtown shop is stocked with beautiful products. the new  membership opportunities are delivering incredible value, and in so many ways I feel like we are just getting started. Come be a part of it.

We can do it Birds & Bears. You, me, we --- Birds, Bears, TOGETHER.

xx,

Rosie {aka Erin}
